Bug: no indication of activity in slow online transactions

Note in the attached gif it eventually goes through and answer is displayed, but in the meantime user is left with no indication there's anything happening

Not sure if relevant but also noting that after the first transaction the subsequent transactions are instant.

(used to get indication something was happening while you were waiting - probably makes sense as red indicator on kernel menu item)
