Inquiries about the "Energy funcation" in the paper

Dear author: I have carefully read your wonderful paper about "Cold Decoding". But I can't understand why the Energy fuction/E(y) equals the cumulative negative value of constraint functions in section 3.1, but becomes cumulative positive in section 4.1, 4.2, and 4.3.

Thanks for helping me with this puzzle if possible!
