Real Time Kernel - Ubuntu 18

Hello and thank you for your work! A real time kernel is what i need for the upboard, however, i need to have Ubuntu 18 installed. I saw this repository, however, the problem is that this works with Ubuntu 16.

I need your thoughts on how to progress any further... I do not know enough about low level linux. Is the kernel oblivious to the Ubuntu version? Therefore i can use this kernel in an Ubuntu 18 installation?

I think that the answer will probably be negative, but i had to ask. In case of a negative answer, do you have an ideas for Real Time Kernel on the up-board, for Ubuntu 18?
