Trouble detecting big colonies

OpenCFU works great with small colonies, but it detects hardly any of the (larger) colonies in this photo, even the solid colored ones. Any idea why?

Current Settings: min radius = 10 max radius = 200 bilateral threshold = 10

This is most likely due to the size of the adaptive thresholding window being too small. I am going to check that, and try to figure out how we can make it work on both big and small colonies.
