New setting: download only first and last portions of file (and nothing else)

Suggestion

I would like to have a new setting wherein files can be set to "download only first and last" - i.e., only the first and last portions of the file would be downloaded, after which nothing else from that file would be automatically downloaded. This would need to be a per-file setting (contrary to the "prioritize first and last" setting) because it causes things to not be downloaded at all.

Use case

I would like to enable this setting on the files that I am potentially interested in and then, once everything has downloaded, examine the metadata to inform my decision of which ones to fully download. Obviously I am aware of the "prioritize first and last" setting, but this is very non-ideal for my use case. Without a per-file piece map I have no way of telling when these pieces have finished downloading. But even if that feature was implemented this would still require closely monitoring the download of potentially many files. What I would like is to start a torrent using this option and then not look at it any more until after it has finished, letting the client handle everything, without risking downloading more than I intend to.

Honestly I am having trouble understanding what the use case even is for "prioritize first and last" and in what situation it would be superior to what I'm requesting here.

@luzpaz This has nothing to do with sequential download, nothing to do with changing any default, and in fact has nothing to do with "prioritize first and last" either because it is an additional feature. There is no existing ticket or discussion for this request. Please reopen.
