Do you have pre-allocate files enabled? I don't see it in preferences, so guessing not.

When the save path is changed, are you moving to/from an external drive? or to a different volume?

Try downloading to an internal drive first. If it doesn't 'hang' when you do that, you've narrowed down the problem.

External drives tend to spin down more often and have crappy/slow usb/controllers. While the drive is spinning back up, things will 'hang' waiting for them to become ready.
