Problem regarding seeders

Open Felipefpl opened this issue 2 years ago • 5 comments

qBittorrent & operating system versions

I use qbitorrent 4.4.2 version 32 bit on win7 x64.

What is the problem?

I wanted to report that i'm the only seeder for 3 torrents and even so the program reports that there are no seeders. Pic below:

Also, the upload speed is ridiculous i NEVER upload full speed even when i'm not browsing the internet, i could be sending files to lots of ppl and even so i upload to 1, 2 or 3 ppl at once, ports are opened, dht active, upload speed at maximum.

20220401_022838 There's currently 3 seeders in total, since you finished downloading to 100%, then you are not connected to any of the 3 seeders, one of the seeders is you. If you where currently downloading then the 0(3) would be something else, like 1(3), 2(3) or 3(3 total), so left side is how many seeders from whom you are currently downloading torrent files.

I never upload full speed.

Maybe that is because of:

  1. Peers have found faster seeders.
  2. Peers maximum download speed limit is lower than your own maximum upload speed.
  3. Your internet network provider is limiting torrent upload speed.
  4. You have not looked at what speedtest website is showing what is the theoretical maximum upload speed you really do have.
  5. You misunderstood the number value difference between 1 gigabit and 1 gigabyte per second.

You are pointing to the wrong seed, the 1st seed task isnt the one i'm talking about. Also, even when i'm the only seeder i RARELY upload to more ppl.

1 - Even when there is 1 peer i cant upload to it often. 2 - Possible, but this doesnt explain number 1. 3- Also possible, but never saw anything about this before. I also select to connect to ppl using encryption and this doesnt make things faster. 4 - A bad deduction, i used speedtest several times. 5 - Wrong again, i know the diff between them.

Let's be fair here: if you want people to provide help relevant to your issue, then provide the relevant information. In your picture, you clicked on the wrong seed.

  1. Is this the first time you're using qBittorrent? If not, what was the previous version and did you notice the same seeding issue? If you go back to the previous version, does the issue go away?

  2. What would you consider as full upload speed? Is this with or without VPN?

@LarLei better to just only ask him what makes him believe that qBittorent v4.4.2 default settings and UI information is bad or faulty and if he has anything new to share to backup his claims that seeding speed and connection numbers are incorrect or if has suggestions what other users should try doing to make him believe that latest qBittorrent default settings and interface is working fine or really isn't working correctly.

@Felipefpl

1 - Even when there is 1 peer i cant upload to it often.

Well even with popular torrents and other torrenting software I may not be able to download often from only 1 seeder, I might even have multiple torrents active at the same time and speed will fluctuate between different torrents, so you would need to provide evidence or share more reliable details how to reproduce, otherwise it's pointless to write that qBittorrent has an issue that needs fixing.

2 - Possible, but this doesnt explain number 1.

Yes it does explain, because if peers find other seeders to share data faster, wish to download some other torrent beforehand or other seeders have more stable connection with lower delay then they might not be interested in prioritizing you.

We don't even know what software, settings and connection you and the other peers have, because there's a lot of torrenting clients, settings and hidden algorithms that can influence connections count, torrent or certain files priorities. There's a possibility that your network provider or network device can even slow down or limit torrenting connections speed or latency temporary or after certain time pass or time of a day.

Which is why it's hard to make others believe your claim that qBittorrent has an issue without even providing enough information on how exactly you did your tests.

3- Also possible, but never saw anything about this before. I also select to connect to ppl using encryption and this doesnt make things faster.

Of course it doesn't, you are modifing default settings and hoping others to reproduce or confirm your issue to be valid, if in reality you now leave an impression that you might've even modified some other settings to worse than the latest versions clean installation defaults, uninstalling and upgrading versions doesn't even delete and rarely modifies old or manually modified configuration settings. That's why it was advised to share log and configuration files before opening an issue report, it was even asked afterwards to share the information and I advised it's fine if you try to edit them to avoid sharing unnecessary private information.

You're supposed to allow both encrypted and not encrypted connections, because otherwise you're not gonna be able to download or upload data to users who have it allowed or disabled. uTorrent is old popular torrenting client that still doesn't have encrypted connections support enabled by default and maybe other programs of other peers and seeders have something else as default or set as unsupported.

4 - A bad deduction, i used speedtest several times.

Good to know that now, because I didn't know that you have ever used it. You should've then closed qBittorrent and other programs, and tried out different servers and then shared the information with others. Because otherwise it's impossible to anyone to reproduce that it's impossible to upload with maximum speed to other peers, because some users might have 10gigabit upload speed and some just have only 1megabit. There's even big difference if user is torrenting using VPN, wired, wireless or with mobile data, so it's not good to believe others can reproduce something without being a mind-reader.

You are pointing to the wrong seed, the 1st seed task isnt the one i'm talking about.

Well then you should have shared correct or better screenshot or specified afterwards which torrent in the list is this issue report about.

You have 1 active torrent and 6 torrents that are inactive, active torrent is the one which is with the blue text and it's shown that you're currently sharing data with 1 peer out of 14 total peers and there's 3 seeders and since you have finished seeding, then you're not gonna be shown any other number instead of 0 in the seeders column, I already explained it in previous comment. Unless you have anything to share that the number there is wrong in the latest version of qBittorrent, because I currently see no issues on your screenshot with the 1 active torrent.

We don't know if you have the whole torrent. If not, you're not a "seed". Also you didn't mention if it worked differently in previous versions. About the upload speed, if 7 small torrents is representative of your torrenting usage then this is not strange at all.
