qBittorrent erroneously assumes files are stored on a hard disk (word semantics)

Open kaoneko opened this issue 4 years ago • 3 comments

qBittorrent version and Operating System

qBittorrent v4.3.3 (64-bit) Linux Mint 20.1

libtorrent-rasterbar and Qt version

libtorrent 1.2.12.0 Qt 5.12.8

Problem

When right-clicking a torrent and selecting Delete a confirmation dialog pops up which has an option Also delete the files on the hard disk - even though the files aren't stored on a hard disk.

Expected behavior

The option should either correctly state the used storage medium, e.g. Also delete the files on the solid state drive, or not mention the type of storage at all, e.g. Also delete the files.

Steps to reproduce

Right-click on a torrent and select Delete.

Extra info

Today was my first time using qBittorrent and I already like it! The talk of hard drives was a bit unexpected though, they've been mostly replaced by solid state drives where I live. I hope submitting this issue will help bring qBittorrent up to speed with current technology!

@qbittorrent/bug-handlers, what do you think about affected message? IMO, Also delete the files is enough. At least I really dislike the idea of determining real media type.

Wouldn't this need to be retranslated on every language?

Also delete the files

How about Also permanently delete the files? (avoids some user confusion about thinking the files should be going to recycle bin etc)
