when using template, the binary file isn't included

Hi, loving this plug in but think I must be doing something wrong. I've created a template with space at the top for a summary and tags, which I was wanting the binary file to be added below. When I add a new file, the plugin creates the new file using the template but does not add the pdf file to the new file. do I need to add something to the template for this to happen? thanks, Pete
