Unclear which Windows build to use?

Open barnabyc opened this issue 1 year ago • 7 comments

I know this isn't an enhancement strictly speaking, but perhaps it could be improved as to which Windows build is intended to be the default? For the GUI versions (ignoring the 2 "console" versions as strictly for debugging) there are 3: GTK 410 vs GTK 46 vs Krokiet.

I'd love to make sure I (and others) know which is the ideal from a bug reporting/maintenance standpoint. Thank you!

In theory, the version with the latest gtk should have the most features and be the most stable, but in practice the windows gtk port is so buggy that one version works for some and another for others (for example, both work for me).

Because of these problems, this gui is currently receiving only the most basic fixes and slowly users should migrate to Krokiet, which in time should match Czkawka in the number of features.

Will Krokiet be available in MSYS2? Thanks.

It all depends on other users.

I don't use windows, so I cannot create/test it

Noob here. I'm using Win 10 and I'm confused if it is recommended to use the original czkawka or the new krokiet? what are the pros and cons using these two?

thx in advance
