Not working on other windows than itself

I have Ubuntu 21.04 installed in a Vm using VMware Workstation 16 Player. I installed xautoclick and opend gautoclick2. Until this point everything worked fine. But as i tried to use it, i got some problems. The autoclicker only clicks if the mouse is over the gautoclick window and do nothing if its over another window for example firefox.

What version do you use? gautoclick2 was dropped more than year ago: https://github.com/qarkai/xautoclick/releases/tag/v0.33

I downloaded the version 0.31 and installed it as described in the INSTALL file. I'm new to Linux so I don`t know if this is the wrong way but it worked for me.

Thanks for this hint, this version is much better, as it can be opened without the terminal an is easier to install. Nevertheless it doesnt solve my problem. If i open the programm it shows this small window with the settings etc. but if i press start nothing happens expect the buttons changing colour. I don`t know if the VM is the problem or if I installed it incorrectly.
