Reload doesnt work for Google Doc Published URLs
I am trying to reload a google doc presentation, specifically a published presentation slideshow.
I don't have a URL you can use as you couldn't update the presentation to see the behavior, but go make a simple docs.google.com presentation slide deck of 3 slide or more, put whatever on them, then go FILE > Publish to the Web
Choose your slide transition interval, and check both checkboxes for start slideshow on open, and restart slideshow after last slide. Then grab that URL and throw it in a tab.
If I make a change to the slides, the running presentation will not update until I reload its page/tab, but it does update if I do. So your tool, (I used reloadevery for years) was my natural go to to fix this, i thought will all its features including the recent FixURL addition that it should solve it for sure... but no.
I have 2 machines, different hardware (same network not that it should matter) both with the most recent FF update, and ReloadMatic installed/updated today.
It works on every other page in my million tab local machine, and the machine I need it working on; but it does nothing and looks like it doesn't even attempt a reload of any published google doc pages. I have enabled and disabled, Fixed URL, Sticky Reload, Smart Timing, Disable Cache, and Only If Unsuccessful, and most combinations thereof. All have no effect; and yet if I use the right click context menu to "Reload Now" it will refresh the page and reflect the changes in the presentation, so it has the ability to force a page refresh... it just doesn't.
Please help me here as this is driving me nuts! I am normally the one who comes and fixes issues like this but I suspect this is beyond plugin conflicts and configuration and I don't want to touch code.
Thanks.
Hi, thanks for reporting. I'll try to reproduce using your instructions, and once verified, I will of course issue a fix for this problem.
Any update on this?
I've tried and I can clearly reproduce the issue, so that is a good start. I haven't inspected the exact reason though, but as long as I can help it, you can definitely expect a fix from me.
Just checking up on if you found the reason for this behavior yet.
Thanks for letting me know you got the problem too and it wasnt just my odd infrastructure.
Just checking up again or wondering if you know of any other timed refresh utilities that work in the interim that just as fully featured.
Thanks.
Hi, sorry I admit I haven't checked on this yet. All I can promise is that the fix is going to be in the next release, but release schedule is not specific. At the moment I need to spend all my attention on a crowdfunding preparation on CrowdSupply.
