pwm Official Docker Image builds on Docker Hub?

Open CaseyLabs opened this issue 6 years ago • 13 comments

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. I tried building a Docker image of pwm today on both RHEL 7 and Ubuntu 16.04. Both failed with differing error messages.

Describe the solution you'd like It would be great to see an official image on Docker Hub (hub.docker.com)

Any thoughts?

What were the error messages? We don't have an official release of pwm currently so a dockerhub image is unlikely.

I've build a Docker image based on another release, but with newer builds of pwm. Maybe it helps you https://cloud.docker.com/u/puzich/repository/docker/puzich/pwm

@puzich well that image link is behind a loginwall... so not really all that helpful.

Things changed over the years

puzich avatar Nov 21 '22 07:11 puzich

So that's fine but hasn't really explained anything. Is your image just no longer publicly available or what?

BloodyIron avatar Nov 25 '22 00:11 BloodyIron

@BloodyIron I'm not running Docker Hub. If you want to access it, you probably have to register there. I do not know more than that. No need to ask in a harsh tone.

There's nothing harsh about what I said, that's your interpretation.

You provided the link to what appears to be your repository for the image : https://cloud.docker.com/u/puzich/repository/docker/puzich/pwm

Which seems to look to require a login to access. I do not know if this was a requirement when you originally posted the link, but requiring a login really gets in the way of using the work that you contributed here. I'm not trying to get upset with you, more I'm asking what's up with that, and if there's anything you can do to make the image page not require a login wall. Namely because I do appreciate you (and others) contributing to such things. :)

Sorry for misunderstanding you. I haven't changed anything on at the site. I don't know why there is a login page before the hub. I had a look and can't see where to change it. A googled a little bit and it seems that Docker put this page to some repositories but nobody knows why.

puzich avatar Nov 27 '22 12:11 puzich

Hey no worries! Misunderstandings happen, and I'm really glad we can overcome them. :)

I was eager to try your image and bummed-out that it was behind a login-wall :(

I may not need your image after all, but other people may like it. So if you find a way to share the docker image repo that it's hosted without a login wall, I think it might be appreciated by others (and maybe me in the future?) if you are able to post such a link. And if it's still being weird and requiring a login, well I can empathise with how confusing that may be from your perspective.

Either way, I appreciate you hearing me out! Thanks :)

Just for the record, there is now an "official" docker build of PWM. I'm assuming the folks discussing here already know this but adding it for anyone that encounters this thread. It's part of the release artifacts on github as a tarball. I know it's not as convenient as something on docker hub, but it works just the same.

jrivard avatar Nov 29 '22 00:11 jrivard

Can we get that on dockerhub please? Really would help a tonne with k8s deployments and such :)

BloodyIron avatar Dec 01 '22 06:12 BloodyIron

Can we PLEASE get DockerHub official images for PWM??? The 3rd party options are lacklustre and have limitations like only TLSv1.2 for LDAPS working, and other such nonsense.
