Is it possible to access the elasticsearch data directly instead of going through the API?

The README indicates there might be a way to access the data in the elasticsearch cluster directly. Is this possible, and if so how might I go about it?

It doesn't look like you can right now. There are examples on elasticsearch.pushshift.io, but these make requests to elastic.pushshift.io which is blocked by a cloudflare firewall.
