Revise nomenclature: chapters and lessons, not levels and targets
Changing what we call levels and targets will make the UI easier to digest for a wider audience.
- Course => Course (no change).
- Level => Chapter
- Target => Lesson
Like before, lessons can be completed by:
- Simply marking them as complete.
- Visiting a link.
- Taking a quiz.
- Completing a task and submitting its details for review by a coach.
For example, current copy:
You’re at Level 2 right now. This means that you can submit work on targets at or below this level. You can submit work on reviewed targets at higher levels only once you reach them.
Future copy:
You’ve unlocked Chapter 2! You can now access all lessons upto this chapter. To unlock the next chapter you should submit and pass the assignment for Chapter 2.
@vinutv I've also heard comments that users find it difficult to understand that the cards on the student curriculum are clickable elements. @bodhish It would be great if you can explain the issue here.
I think that the renaming of levels and targets to chapters and lessons could probably be coupled with, at least, a minor re-work of the curriculum page.
There are different naming conventions used - maybe instead of just renaming this terms it could be configurable?
@mpraglowski That sounds nice, but I'm concerned as to whether that will work in practise. Besides the increased complexity, different words may not always be interchangeable in a sentence. i.e., the words Lesson and Target could require different words surrounding them in sentences describing the same UI/UX.
We'll definitely think about this before getting started here, though.
"Module" or "unit" is also common (instead of "chapter").
Closing this, as the revised approach for the curriculum simply organizes content into pages, and gets rid of levels altogether.
