Global default video quality settings from admin page not respected on client

Open naezeroth opened this issue 2 years ago • 2 comments

Describe the bug When you set transcoding on in the admin settings and select Global default video quality (user may override) and set it to Direct (original video file without transcode) you should expect to see no transcoding as a default for videos when you open a video on Memories, but it is by default set to Auto on the settings cog.

Expected behavior is that the settings cog respects the admin setting, and can be overriden. I tested this on multiple browsers and operating systems (MacOS + Android) and came with the same issue.

To Reproduce Select a Global default video quality (user may override) and notice it is not actually set.

Platform:

  • OS: MacOS, Android
  • Browser: Firefox
  • Memories Version: 5.2.1
  • Nextcloud Version: 27.0
  • PHP Version: 8.1

The quality the user selects is persisted in the browser. Do you observe this when opening a new incognito window?

No rush, and not sure if this is related or not. But I was wondering as a feature suggestion. It would be nice if the Admin can specify by default that the Global default video quality (user may override) we can add a specific resolution to start with or set by default the lowest resolution by default. That would be cool for those who have a weak upload speed for the internet connection.

For example we can set 480p as the default or the lowest available.
