Public Rating for Shared Albums & Folders

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

When using publicly shared albums or folder shares, there is currently no way for viewers to give structured feedback on individual photos.
For our association, which regularly organizes events producing several thousand photos, this makes the selection process for publication very time-consuming and inefficient. A single person has to decide which images may be published and which represent the best moments of a scene, even though many participants could contribute valuable input.

Describe the solution you'd like

We would like to have the ability to rate individual images in publicly shared albums or folders, for example using a 1–5 star rating (or alternatively simple reactions like thumbs up / thumbs down).

This rating should:

  • Be available to users accessing a public share link (optionally configurable by the share owner)
  • Be visible to the album owner in an aggregated form (e.g. average rating, number of ratings)
  • Allow filtering, for example:
    • Images with 1 star → delete / do not publish
    • Images with 5 stars → highlights
    • Images with no rating yet → still need review

This would allow us to distribute the curation work across the community and significantly reduce manual effort.

Describe alternatives you've considered

  • External tools (e.g. Google Forms or surveys), which break the user experience and require additional data handling
  • Manual feedback via comments or messages, which is unstructured and hard to evaluate at scale
  • Internal rating by logged-in users only, which excludes many participants who only have access via public share links

None of these alternatives scale well for several thousand images or provide structured, actionable results.

Additional context

  • Our association regularly hosts large events with hundreds of participants and thousands of photos
  • We often have multiple photos of the same scene and want to identify the best image of a series
  • A simple 1–5 star rating would already cover most of our needs
  • This feature would also be useful for clubs, schools, festivals, photographers, and other community-driven events
