Xilinx U280 FPGA support

Open hanyax opened this issue 1 month ago • 1 comments

Hi,

I am wondering how difficult it would be to deploy Cheshire on an Xilinx U280 FPGA. Look like it shares the same FPGA as vcu128. Is it possible for us to do it by hand with the RTL files provided? If so, can you give me some pointers on how can this be done?

If it is doable with reasonable effort, we will be happy to do it and create a PR after it is done.

Thanks for a great open-source hardware work!

There shouldn't be anything preventing you from mapping it. The entire flow for existing Xilinx/AMD FPGA boards is in this repo.

You can have a look at the existing Xilinx FPGA setups in target/xilinx, and at the documentation on how to use them here. If you are experienced with your target board, porting should not take more than a few days and a few hundred lines.

I am happy for any contributions. The issue is that I have no plan for how to test setups for boards we do not own, as this has been a hard requirement for merging into main so far. But we can discuss this later.
