Nonexistant clients shows as "online"

Open lvlchg opened this issue 4 years ago • 4 comments

Using the ARP scan method only. My PiAlert has reported at least one IP as "online" despite not existing on my network. The MAC belongs to a Chromecast that is active on another IP that PiAlert is not reporting at all.

Have you marked the device as a fixed IP?

Everything on the network is assigned by DHCP. The offending IP only exists in Pi.Alert, there is no entry in ARP or DHCP leases for it. Pi.Alert reports it as .211 (in dhcp range). I have assigned it as fixed by the server as .84, and thats the actual ip now. 211 might be the old dynamic lease from a week ago before the static lease was assigned.

Tbh. I gave up on it as I could not get any reliable or useful data out of it. Might give it a new try later.
