Set minimum note length, or at least prompt authors to write more
We sometimes get very short posts by people with no context or background, and perhaps just a MapKnitter map or Spectral Workbench image. We should try to draw them out more in describing what they're sharing and why. Apart from better templates, we could make an alert popup or something like that, that can say something like:
You haven't written very much -- add a bit more detail or background to help people understand what you're sharing and why.
We'd have to be sure this doesn't affect questions, which can be very short. Or maybe set the threshold for questions to be shorter.
Hey!! Can I work on this issue?
I think this may be a design issue, that we need to think about how to encourage longer content without requiring it. We'd love some design ideas!

Maybe a popup that cleverly prompts to write more than a specified limit (maybe 500 words) with constantly alternating random sentences so as to give the writers an idea, or a push to write more.
@jywarren What do you think?
I like this, but I think perhaps from a barrier-to-entry perspective we should think about doing this /after/ a post has gone up. In contrast to my original idea, I wonder if we could use a comment bot, or to display a notice on PublicLab.org on shorter posts, suggesting adding more detail? That'd be a totally different way to solve the problem, but maybe friendlier...
@jywarren How about appending a short (css styled) message to add more details once the user publishes a short post?
