A cheaper alternative to the Flir thermal sensor

Check out this 40$ thermal sensor on adafruit https://www.adafruit.com/product/3538

Its much lower resolution but with some image enhancement (ok.. i mean blur) it may be good enough for a lot of uses!

I'm familiar with the pi and linux but haven't had time to go over your entire project files. If you have a minute, would you mind estimating (off the top of your head) what kind of work it would take to adapt your project to this new sensor?
