NASA has an OSS funding support thing -- "E.7 Support for Open Source Tools, Frameworks, and Libraries"

Source: https://nspires.nasaprs.com/external/solicitations/summary.do?solId=%7b958CF134-D655-E512-B5AD-84501D14A0C1%7d&path=&method=init

NOTICE: Amended October 19, 2020. This amendment releases the final text for this program element. Optional notices of intent to propose are requested by November 19, 2020 and the due date for proposals is January 19, 2021.

From the PDF describing the grant:

it is anticipated that the funding available for awards made in response to proposals to this program element will be $1.5 million per year. This is expected to support 5-10 projects for the call. The awards will be for a maximum duration of three years.

Great find! Can you open a pull request to add this to funders.md? Feel free to add me as a reviewer :)

@pradyunsg if you don't have time to do this, please say so and someone else can do it.

I'd prefer that someone else pick this up, yea. Sorry for the delayed response. This got buried by Github's notification UI that I'm still learning to live with.

That solicitation is now closed, but there is another open one that we can add: https://nspires.nasaprs.com/external/solicitations/summary!init.do?solId={7F79ADCA-82CF-AFFF-2B17-331E2665A9BC}&path=open

Actually, that award is only a supplemental grant for previously-funded research:

In order to propose an activity as a supplement to a research and analysis proposal submitted in response to this program element, the proposer must have a research proposal that has been selected for funding (hereinafter called the "parent award"), through any previous SMD solicitation that has at least 15 months remaining in its period of performance at the time of the submission of the open source software proposal. Previous SMD solicitations include any from the Biological and Physical Science Division. Proposals that have not yet been selected for funding are not eligible.

That said, I think it's still worth adding NASA to the list, since they are opening new solicitations all the time.
