Junicode and CTAN

Open Doc73 opened this issue 10 months ago • 2 comments

Dear Professor, I just wanted to point out that latest version of Junicode came out two weeks ago, but it hasn't arrived via CTAN yet. Are there any delays or has the management policy for this font changed?

Thank you so much for your reply and for the huge effort in developing this excellent font, Domenico Cufalo

The person who packages Junicode for CTAN also packages a lot of their other fonts. He's been great about packaging both the static and the variable versions, and I don't like to push. In fact, I prefer not to get involved in packaging at all if I don't have to (there being many Linux repositories, Homebrew, CTAN, and maybe more), so I would wait a week or two before nudging. But if you'd like, you can write to him directly: his email is at the bottom of the README on the CTAN site.

Thanks for the clarification. I can wait!

Dear Professor, Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be much interest in updating Junicode to CTAN, as the last update was on 2024-07-21: cf. https://ctan.org/pkg/junicode

However, I confess that I have never contacted the maintainer.

As I said earlier, I don't like getting involved with packaging. CTAN has contact information for most of its maintainers, including Bob Tennent, who maintains the two Junicode packages and 79 others. A polite nudge might well get results. Meanwhile, you can drop the fonts and the package scripts from the TeX directory of this repo into your working directory.
