[ISSUE]: "Stolen" PS2 game freeze at the "News Logo"
Checks
- [x] I have checked existing OPL issues for duplicates and found none
- [x] I am using either OPL latest stable version, or archived version or OPL beta version
Describe the issue
So , the game that I've had this issue , it's called "Stolen" , What I find strange about this problem is that the FMV's are smooth and this game doesn't show any difference in speed between the USB and DVD however , whenever I tried to start a new game it's starting just fine , but when the "News Logo" it's about to disappear , the game freeze and the music it's repeating like a loop . I've tried all sorts of USB's ( brands , 2.0 , 3.0 , 16 GB , 64 GB and 128 GB ) and I've tried both formats FAT32 and exFAT .
Console model
SCPH-75000 and SCPH-77000
OPL version / revision
OPL 0.9.3 , OPL 1.0.0 , OPL 1.1.0 , OPL 1.2.0 Beta 2048 and OPL 1.2.0 Beta 2218
In which device(s) have you experienced this issue?
USB
Context and extra information
No response
Enable MODE 4 in the Game Settings
This should help, however it will skip all FMVs.
If mode 4 doesn't solve the problem, try other compatibility modes.
The game runs fine on fast storage such as MMCE even without any compatibility modes so again another case of USB's too slow transfer rate
@BloodRaynare lucky me , that I own 2 MX4SIO's , and yes the game works on the MX4SIO . @Jaajees Thanks for that and yes mode 4 did made the game playable , but unfortunately the FMV's won't , which is a drawback , considering that the FMV's are smooth But , to be honest , I know I can simply just play this game on the MX4SIO but also let's be real here , I know USB is not the most optimal option but for a lot of people it's the only option . And I've opened up this issue , just because I wanted to help well anyone who had this issue . But once again I thank you both @BloodRaynare and @Jaajees for tanking time to responde to my issue
Stolen [SLUS_210.99]:
OPL Stable 1.1.0 SMB - works well OPL Stable 1.1.0 USB - freezes on the first FMV after starting a new game
OPL Beta 1.2.0 2218 SMB - works well OPL Beta 1.2.0 2218 USB - freezes on the first FMV after starting a new game
My PS2 model is SCPH-90008. Compatibility modes do not help. I use redump images and don't use PADEMU, VMC, GSM.
@10522 Thanks for the test friend , but I've came to the conclusion that this game will straight up freeze because of that first FMV ( you can activate mode 4 , but this way you won't really know the story that well ) , MX4SIO it's a much better solution for this game to be played 100%
So @BloodRaynare , @10522 and @Jaajees I really appreciate that you answered my problem so nice and politely and I will close this issue by two solutions :
- Activate mode 4 , the game won't freeze on the first FMV but this will unfortunately skip all FMV's .
- Play the game off of a MX4SIO , this way the game won't freeze on the first FMV without any compatibility modes , and you won't have to skip all the FMV's
@redbob-bot please open this issue as it is still not fixed.
@10522 Ok , but , personally I don't think there's an fix for this game on USB , because I've tried everything to work , OPL versions from 0.9.3 , 1.0.0 , 1.1.0 , 1.2.0 Beta 2016 , 1.2.0 Beta 2048 and 1.2.0 Beta 2218 , and both formats FAT32 and exFAT and yet nothing , although this game was even more problematic on the USB side when I've used OPL 0.9.3 ( It freezes on the Hip Games Logo )
It seems that also with a PAL version (SLES_528.82) the issue is the same:

Of course through USB with OPL 2218. None of the compatibility modes helps (except mode 4 to skip FMV).
