[FR]Hopefully the USB option in the BDM driver can be turned on and off
This USB function has been tested and turned off to increase the speed. There are four device switches inside, which can be turned on according to the device in use. And if this USB option is restricted and turned off, it is easy to cause a crash when plugging and unplugging multiple devices. I am just suggesting.
There is already a FR with the same idea #632
This question has been asked for three years and no one has asked. I just hope that OPL will be better. As for whether it can be changed, it doesn't matter! Because OPL is just a kind of nostalgia.
Duplication of https://github.com/ps2homebrew/Open-PS2-Loader/issues/632, https://github.com/ps2homebrew/Open-PS2-Loader/issues/915, https://github.com/ps2homebrew/Open-PS2-Loader/issues/1068.
However, after testing, it was found that the boot speed and stability were greatly improved after turning off USB.
I also want to turn off USB. I use MX4SIO and when I have something on the USB drive it boots by default to it despite having nothing.
Booting from USB in 2025 is not something anyone should do so an improvement is either allowing us to disable it or at least, give priority to any other method.

The USB switch function is not available, so I just leave it alone. This year has the most problems, and I feel like it has not been tested on a real machine.

Is this just a mockup or is there a way to disable USB, but it's not included in the official OPL?
Can you try this?: https://github.com/rickgaiser/Open-PS2-Loader/releases/tag/latest
That does indeed allow USB to be disabled, however it gives me a "400: HardDisk Drive not detected" error when I enable HDD under BDM devices.
@rickgaiser i can confirm the same issue as @cobhc2019 . Also MX4SIO dosnt work anymore too.
@cobhc2019 @yhaenggi: I made some changes. MX4SIO and USB are now working for me. can you retry? https://github.com/rickgaiser/Open-PS2-Loader/releases
This seems to work fine now with HDD BDM, however there is a black screen before OPL displays anything that lasts for approx 27 seconds that minimizes the boot speed improvement by being able to disable other BDM devices. This didn't exist on the prior official beta, this is with a fresh cfg file and I'm using PS2BBL to launch OPL.
The first time it happened I thought it wasn't going to load OPl at all.
@cobhc2019 @yhaenggi: can you try again with this version?: https://github.com/rickgaiser/Open-PS2-Loader/releases
Becouse USB (with BDM) is no longer loaded by default, the APA/PFS that depends on BDM would no longer load. That should be fixed but right now I only have an exFat formatted HDD to test with.
Also the config loading has been simplified to ONLY load from MC. Becouse the config tells OPL what drivers to load, it's impossible to load the config from any of those devices.
It seems to sometimes take about 13 seconds from when I see that PS2BBL has started loading it, which is great and sometimes take double that as before.
I'm using internal exFAT as well by the way.
