From Gcode (slicing) to STL

Open NGC869 opened this issue 2 years ago • 1 comments

Hi all, it would be possible letting PrusaSlicer export in STL (or STEP format) the results of the slicing procedure?

PE is able to generate complex structures, I am thinking above all of the infill geometries, and it would be truly usefull let the slicers to export these structure: think about analyzing them with the Finite Element method.

Additive manufacturing enable to obtain structures that can results game-changer for some applications (shock absorbers, heat exchangers, and so on), and these structures often are created using some dedicated software, but… while printing these geometries can be a trivial process using SLA, SLS, DLP, ecc., this is not really true using FDM.

So, why not creating geometries trough an FDM slicing software, in order to analyze them and be sure that these structure will ben nearly perfect replicable trough FDM?

I'd appreciate your evaluations!

There is indeed an option to export G-code extrusions as OBJ file https://help.prusa3d.com/article/export-toolpaths-as-obj_1777
