Describe the feature

Dear all, since some time ago, the length of the purged filament, after a filament change has been dramatically decreased, now, using version 3.14.1-8237, it's terrible when you change from a dark filament to a clear one, purge length is too short, and you need to hit the button at least four times, saying the color is not correct at all, and this is a slow and time consuming, not aggregated value activity, then what I need is to have again the old length, or made a way to change those values, without to compile the firmware after change the values, and needing to do the same after every future firmware update, you could go back to the old values, or make a menu entry to change the value, or make a feature on Prusa link, Prusa connect, in order to set the desired, and right, purgue value we need

Expected functionality

Have the same purge values as in the past

@Escrich Thanks, for the report. I checked the code and the FILAMENTCHANGE_RECFEED in 6 years.

In which firmware version did it work? Do you have a MMU?

Dear @3d-gussner , as stated above my firmware version is 3.14.1-8237, and no, I don't have a MMU on that machine, in the beginning of the times, long time ago, the amount of purged filament was quite perfect, and rarely you had the need to purge more, actually, the purged length is ridiculous, and the way to purge more not good, I tend to always use Prusa Connect at home, and after the insufficient purge because a filament change, you answer yes, using the rotary button at printer's panel, in order to purge more from Prusa Connect, you still have a problem, because you can not set the length to be purged, you can just choose between three values, insufficient for that, and the worster of the problems, you can not set the speed to purge, imagine to purge 200 mm. under those circumstances, in the other hand I can understand you for not to waste filament, but from my point of view we're not in the best solution, for me several solutions, as follows will be good enough:

  • set the filament purge length as before
  • add an entry in the Prusa MK3s menu in order to set the purge length
  • have the possibility on Prusa connect to set length and speed to manually extrude
  • have a Gcode command entry line at prusa Connect Any of the possibilities will be highly appreciated, and not only for me

Thanks for your answer and your work. Regards: Escrich

@Esrich I don't remember how long exactly was the purged filament initially (i.e. when I got my MK3S 5 years ago) but I didn't notice a change there. I confess not paying that much attention to this detail, just selecting "No" enough times to get the right color.

However, with the latest version (3.14.1) it doesn't require more that 2 "No" for switching from black to white. And I could limit to a single retry, but I just want to be sure there's no leftover trace of the previous color. Most of the time no retry is required for smaller contrast.

Your proposal to make this setting configurable makes sense, since it would let everybody tune this to his own taste and needs.
