Feature Request: Disable Tilt Mechanism for "Mechanical Models"

Open HMPoweredMan opened this issue 4 years ago • 3 comments

Due to the physics of the tilt mechanism, mechanical parts can be warped as they are pulled unevenly and adhere to the bed for a short time before releasing.

Please add the ability to disable the tilt mechanism on a per print basis to allow for perpendicular delamination from the film via the Z axis. I believe this will improve quality of mechanical prints.

I suppose this would also require a Prusaslicer update to allow a box to be checked when slicing for the SL1.

Edit: I adding a few examples of people with the issue. https://forum.prusaprinters.org/forum/original-prusa-sl1-hardware-firmware-and-software-help/tilt-and-warped-mechanical-prints/ https://forum.prusaprinters.org/forum/original-prusa-sl1-general-discussion-announcements-and-releases/lumpy-bottoms-err-tops/ https://forum.prusaprinters.org/forum/original-prusa-sl1-general-discussion-announcements-and-releases/part-defections/

I like this request - for other reasons. But still an option would be neat.

I've been going crazy trying to get my SL1S to print parts with multiple perpendicular straight lines without warping. I've tried every orientation/support/speed/resin combination you can think of, but all I have to show for it is an enormous pile of warped parts.

Meanwhile people printing the same parts on much cheaper printers like the Anycubic Mono X are having much better luck.

The only obvious difference I can see is that these cheaper printers do not have a tilt mechanism so it would be great to have an option to turn off the tilt in order to rule this out as a cause of warping.

Hello, thank you for the suggestion. The developers are aware of it and we will see if it can be done in the future
