Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I took a pass through most of our documentation (there are still a few not yet done) to move examples from proto2/proto3 to editions-based. Where there is a difference in how they're defined, I would include both in an example, such as this section of the same topic. I should have done the same for the section you identified (and maybe others in the topic). I'll take another pass to correct this.
