File drag area sometimes stays stuck

Maybe the thing that triggers it doesn’t cover the whole area. Or something is above it that blocks the event. If you move the dragged file slowly over the illustration you see it flickering. Maybe depending on when you release you won’t get the mouseout (or what it is called) event

I think this has something to do with the drag leave event, but if I cannot fix it cleanly we can definitely trick it with a hard-reset of the drag area state when the app loses focus or conversation switches, or mouse click is released
