No more --append option for fixtures:load?

I'm looking for the --append option when loading fixture data. Looking at the code inside AbstractDataLoader it seems existing data in the affected tables is always deleted beforehand. Is there a specific reason why this was not included?

If I'm right, there never was an --append option when loading fixtures.

The --append option exists in the PropelORMPlugin for symfony 1. Back then I was wondering why this feature was not ported :)

I still think this would be a useful addon.
