Problems uploading files

Open marcreeves opened this issue 9 months ago • 3 comments

Hi all,

Please bear in mind I am not technical at all when it comes to web hosting, servers etc - so I do not understand a lot of troubleshooting stuff here.

I am having problems uploading to my projectsend installation - uploads just randomly stall at random percentages and won't finish. I have been trying to upload the same 400mb file for around 4 hours now - I need to get it to a client, and it's driving me insane. Uploads do finish sometimes but it's completely random. Everything was working fine up until two days ago.

I've tried updating via FTP but that never works (i'm on rev1605) as filezilla fails to create 24 file directories (ones that are empty in the install files.)

I don't want to do a fresh install as I don't want to lose my uploaded files or client information. I don't understand how to back up those settings. It would be really nice to be able to update projectsend within a projectsend install itself as it's overly complicated installing and updating and I always have trouble with it.

Any ideas on how I can solve this easily? Thanks in advance

Hi! Sorry about the issue. The stalling should produce some kind of error, in the browser's console or the php error log, depending on where it's happening. Check with your hosting provider please to see if they can give you the log, without the details it would be impossible to guess what's happening. Regarding the updates, I've wanted to add an automatic updater for a long time, but wasn't able to fully get into it. It's still on my to-do list!

Hi, still having issues with uploads stalling. Haven't had time to look into it and I also don't understand a lot of this stuff either so it's a bit difficult for me.

Attached is a screenshot of my browsers console, which does show some error messages, but I have no idea what any of it means. Any help would be appreciated.

I know this is an old issue but I was having the same issue as you and discovered that changing the chunk size in upload.php which is located in the root directory on new releases or it's named upload-from-computer.php on an older release.

I changed chunk size from 1mb to 20mb and it worked chunk_size: '20mb',

make sure your max file size and memory limits are high enough in your servers php.ini file and also check the limit in project send at: includes/sys.config.php define('MAX_FILESIZE',2048);

I hope this helps somebody!
