what is the .lock file format

Hi , I'm trying to build a modified version of libreav for fun and I have encountered this ".lock" file format what is this file format? please answer. thank you

Hi, .lock files are usually used to mark a file as uneditable. Can you tell me which specific file are you referring to? I couldn't find any such files in this repo.
