Reset the group number to zero?
Hello,
I've been using Panorama for a few days now. Thank you for the great work.
One question (and sorry if it is answered somewhere; I've looked it up but did not find it: After a while, I finally understood that in the group view, the first number in the top right-hand corner of a group was the group number (the second being the number of tabs in the group).
I had started to close groups and create new ones already. So I figured out that this number would keep incrementing by one, so that in a few weeks or months I could reach high numbers, which might be disturbing (like "group 289").
Is there a way to reset the group number to zero?
Alternatively, a workaround could be to allow to close all the tabs of a group at once, without closing the group itself (because in my case, I closed the groups mostly to get rid of all their tabs in a second).
Best regards and thank you again for this great add-on.
I think the number should not be visible. I could imaging to remove it from the view and only show it within a tooltip or so.
Unfortunately, this will be here for a little long because it has made testing in the past unbelievably easy and I can imagine a lot of scenarios where we'd need it in the future.
An idea I've been playing with is a "dev/debug" mode in the settings which would enable logging/features like this for testing/bug reports. Once that mode is implemented, I'd feel comfortable removing it from prod. It's annoying but some bugs in the past have been even more annoying and they were fixed quickly because of group numbers.
Hello,
Ok, I understand and it is not that big an issue.
What I would suggest is:
- Explain somewhere that this figure is the group number.
- Differentiate it more clearly from the number of tabs in the group (with a different colour, for example).
- Allow to close all the tabs of a group at once without closing the group (in other words: empty the group).
I would also very much like to see something like this; or, at least, the ability to manually change the group number (surely it cannot be too hard to implement?)...I've spent a considerable amount of time trying to see how I could change the group numbers because I dislike having inconsecutive numbering after deleting a group (e.g. if I have groups '0' and '1', deleting '1' means that the next group will be '2', i.e. I will now have groups '0' and '2')...I know it's not a big issue, but it bugs me a-lot.
I can't find where the data (i.e. group names, etc.) is stored so that I can manually edit it; the closest I've come is to make a backup of the data, manually change the numbers in the generated JSON file, then import it back...but again, I think it's unnecessarily complicated.
