Clicking away from the panorama tab to a pinned tab prevents a second click from restoring previous view

What happens Pin a tab (P) Switch to a non-pinned tab (T) Click the Panorama Tab Groups button to enter panorama view. Click the pinned tab to focus its page. Click back to the Panorama tab. Click the Panorama Tab Groups button again. The pinned tab becomes active and the Panorama Tab Groups tab is still open

What did I expect to happen I expected to return to the view I was in (T) before clicking the button.
