Tab permanently "disappears" if you open it too quickly after starting FF
If I'm too quick in creating a new tab after FF starts, and then move away from it, it disappears from my current tab group - but neither is it in any other tab group. The only way to get it back is to open a new tab, search for the page name or address, and select the FF suggestion that indicates an already opened tab. However, again, if you move away from it, it disappears. I have to right-click the problematic tab and send it to a tab group in order to make it "stick".
(I probably have many such tabs hidden away by now...)
Hi @cmeeren ,
thanks for reporting. Would you provide the steps to reproduce this behaviour, please?
How do you handle the tab sessions in Firefox? How quick is quick?
Would you provide the steps to reproduce this behaviour, please?
- Open Firefox
- Once the window is up, Ctrl-T to open a new tab (do this within 1-2 seconds). Feel free to open several tabs.
- For good measure, wait until CPU usage drops, at least 10 seconds
- Ctrl-Tab to move to next tab. Observe that the new tab you opened now disappears. It can be found in Firefox's native "Hidden tabs" menu, but is not part of any tab group. (If you opened multiple tabs, only the first few you opened might disappear, and the rest will not disappear - this might give you some hints as to the timing.)

I don't understand what you mean.
How quick is quick?
I can repro this if opening a tab within the first 2-3 seconds after Firefox starts. (In case the number of open tabs influence this: I have 16 tabs open in the tab group that starts with FF, and 23 more tabs spread across 4 other groups.)
Thank you.
How do you handle the tab sessions in Firefox?
You answer this question indirectly. You work with saved sessions (including tab groups).
It hard to reproduce. I tried it with a fresh firefox session (no tabs) and an existing session (11 tabs). I'm not able to reproduce this issue so far. 🤔
I have consistently been able to reproduce this on all devices (at least three separate computers). It's still happening.
For me the same happens, when I send a tab to another device. It appears fine when it is received but then disappears. I can open it from the address bar if I know the title etc., but as soon as I navigate away to another tab, it disappears again.
