Just a note that at Stanford we manually trigger an ArchivesSpace EAD harvest using a script in our ArcLight implementation repo. Then we commit that downloaded EAD to our repo and read it / index from there. This was for a single collection that was not actively being edited, so this need could vary a lot. But I think some institutions or use cases might not actually want this, or want it to be opt-in.
