@jnavila and @ben Can you give us a hint, how we can translate the first word (in rendered output) in the captions of all diagrams and tables? As far as I can see, each of the following examples concerns translations for all languages.
Example 1: The source file says: https://github.com/progit/progit2-de/blame/master/book/01-introduction/sections/about-version-control.asc#L22+L23
.Lokale Versionsverwaltung
image::images/local.png[Local version control diagram]
will be rendered to this output: Figure 1. Lokale Versionsverwaltung
How can we replace the word "Figure" with the German term "Abbildung" or "Bild"?
Something similar happens with tables Example 2: The source file says: https://github.com/progit/progit2-de/blame/master/book/02-git-basics/sections/viewing-history.asc#L160-L162
[[pretty_format]]
.Nützliche Optionen für `git log --pretty=format`
[cols="1,4",options="header"]
will be rendered to this output: Table 1. Nützliche Optionen für git log --pretty=format
The word "table" should be exchanged with the term "Tabelle".
Another issue is: In the PDF output a "Table of Contents" is generated at the beginning of the document. It would be desirable if the headline did not have to remain in English, but is translated to "Inhaltsverzeichnis".
A quick Google search revealed

- https://www.methods.co.nz/asciidoc/chunked/apd.html
which might be a starting point ...
(I don't have a clue about AsciiDoctor, so I didn't have a closer look at it (so far).)
@Mo-Gul
I have no idea, where to edit, but this may help to translate the captions "Note", "Tip", "Important", etc. too.
If you can help me find the "starting point", I will do the editions.
@max123kl, I know that you (also) don't have a clue. But my comment was for the people you mentioned in your comment. Maybe they also don't know how to do that so far, but are much more familiar with AsciiDoctor and thus giving them a starting point helps.
So far I am just running a preview of the .asc files while editing, but don't have a running AsciiDoctor installation. So helping here is a bit tricky when I can't test it.
But I had found https://gist.asciidoctor.org/. Maybe with that help it is possible to test. I will first have a look at that when I did more reading the book, which is my primary intend as you know. Everything else here is considered bonus and already takes quite some time ...
