this also might be best solved with first making it work with pidgin and pidgin-OTR and then maybe later also port this to the standalone TorChat so that they can do the same OTR with pidgin users and with standalone TorChat users. I am totally concentrating on the pidgin plugin at the moment, Python TorChat is on bugfix-only mode for now.

last week one of my testers and I had the first successful OTR conversation over TorChat with the libpurpletorchat Pidgin plugin. We made screenshots of this historic moment :-)
