Image "Vertical List" view doesn't work when field is Locked (not editable)

Short description of the issue

When an images field is locked and not editable, only the square and proportional grid options work.

Expected behavior

The vertical list view should also work, although obviously the description field etc would be readonly

Actual behavior

If you set to vertical list, it falls back to square grid.
