Examples Missing

Open glvjr opened this issue 4 years ago • 3 comments

There were examples on the old website that had direct links but were not on the main Processing web pages.

Can we include those on the new Processing website?

There are 17 Topic Examples here: https://github.com/processing/processing-examples/tree/main/Topics

There are only 12 Topic Examples here: https://processing.org/examples

Thanks @glvjr. I believe the old website also had 12 topic examples as you can see in this screenshot:

What were the other 5 topics? I know there's a difference between the examples in the IDE and the examples on the website, but we'll be happy to include anything if we missed it. Perhaps @REAS knows what's up.

Hi! When Applets disappeared as a viable way to show Processing examples online, we moved over to Processing.js and later to p5.js to show what the Processing code does, but running live in the browser. It's true, the full number of examples in the "official" Processing examples set haven't been reflected online, even since the beginning. So, this is a good question, is it a good time to reevaluate which examples appear online? We've been on a push to launch the new site and there were many people significantly involved in helping (see the updated People page). I don't think we have the energy to push this right now.

Hello!

This is an example of a direct link that worked in the past but the topic and link was not on old website: https://processing.org/examples/rgbcube.html

I called them nuggets.

You can see it in the cached version on Google if you search for RGBCube: image

This came up recently in a post in the forum.

I know where the resources are for my personal use:

  • Processing Examples that come with the PDE
  • https://github.com/processing/processing-examples

A comment or note in the examples section on the website would help direct others to these resources.

I thank you @REAS @runemadsen and all the contributors for the work on Processing over the years! A stalwart team of people.
