"ReferenceError: Can't find variable: external" when interacting with any GUI element

Sound seems to work, but all controls (sliders, buttons, menus) are broken and does nothing, I'm getting error "ReferenceError: Can't find variable: external"

Release 1.5.1 on Ubuntu 20.04 Same for 1.5.0, 1.4.5 etc, same if run as superuser.

#21 with suggested fix only tested in arch linux with this stackoverflow thread.

Edit: broke my PR by rebasing to get rid of the huge soundpack hidden in git history. Patch here
