It should be covered by tests may be use rspec?

I'd prefer minitest, honestly, though definitely needs at least an attempt at decent test coverage. :)

Do you have any idea how to cleanly mock out a backend? I noticed this thread over in rspec-rails but it hasn't had any activity in quite some time: https://github.com/rspec/rspec-rails/issues/1606
