embedding images?

hi, i'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but would it be possible to "embed" image previews in vim?

i imagine something like concealing an image from ![](./image.jpg) to a unicode graphic version of it, like terminalimageviewer or shellpic do.

as far as i have seen, concealing is based just on a regex, without possibility to "process matches individually". i guess if something like that would be possible there would be a plugin for this, but: is that possible?
