Request: Inventory saving/loading

Would it be possible to save/load to inventory files similar to invedit (for windows: http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?t=15921). Its very useful to be able to save a preset inventory for say, laying minecart tracks, or a splunking inventory.

I second this—sounds like a useful feature. I actually found myself wishing for something similar.

I'd like to implement something along these lines but to do it the way I want to would take some significant work.
