Looks like there are a lot of reports from this one user, all with the same problem.

This perl issue report seems to indicate that we're closing STDIN somewhere: https://rt.perl.org//Public/Bug/Display.html?id=23838 And that we must not do that, but must instead reopen it onto something else to ensure that file descriptor 0 is being used by something that allows reading.
