[BUG] UEVRInjector.exe wont run at all period

Open Steve25254 opened this issue 1 year ago • 7 comments

the injector wont run at all

im running the very latest version UEVR Beta 1.03 and there is no error or dump it just wont open Steps tried/different factors

-moved file to different locations -reinstallation of .net 6.0 several times -ensuring that Dotnet is added to environmental variables -ran as admin -pausing anti virus and adding to whitelist before -redownloading

notes that may help -only thing that appears in task manager is "windows problem checker" briefly comes up then closes -event viewer says "Kernal event tracing" -windows application log holds no additional information just that it crashed -no matter what version is downloaded the exe always says 1.0.0,0.
-program was ran with powershell in the hopes some kind of error would display but nothing was found

PC specs

  • OS windows 10 Pro
  • MSI GeForce SUPRIM X RTX 3070
  • Intel i9-11900KF
  • Valve Index

Edit: no version of UEVR works for me

As an additional note you guys really need a non gui crash dump folder

edit again: it doesn't work through Rai Pal either and as far as i can tell it is not AV related as i at one stage completely removed it

Sounds like windows defender has quarantined the file or is otherwise preventing execution. Login via an admin account, execute from there and you will see a notification where you have to agree. From then onwards it will execute. (Note you will not see this popup when you only do “right click/run as admin”…)

as i said it is not AV related in any way i thoroughly checked i don't use defender i use something else i disabled it i checked its logs i made sure to white list i also turned off all AV completely and it wont work

i can safely say its not AV related (i really cant actually stress that enough) once again it would help if there was a crash log that wasn't reliant on the exe actually working

EDIT: to be sure i tried this method and likewise it did nothing

Can you paste the error message in the system event viewer in windows logs --> Application at the time of crash? You should be able to find it.

i got it working late last night and found the cause

what was happening was nothing was installing the .net 6.0 SDK so every time i was reinstalling it or using Microsoft community to install C++ updates or update runtime or anything else it wasn't being installed

the bug can be closed now
