When creating a course based on the history of logic, it might be a good starting point to start from the historically important questions of logical validity/inferences such as the syllogisms. Showing how the square of contradiction has implications for the boolean algebra or the tableaux method might be a good way to ground the modern developments in the light of their ancient illuminations.
