`lsp#ui#vim#output#closepreview` doesn't do anything

As suggested in the docs, I have this setting:

let g:lsp_preview_doubletap = [function('lsp#ui#vim#output#closepreview')]

It used to work well, but recently, that stopped working. Manually :calling that function does nothing either.

git bisect brought me to commit 10bbcb11428af1607009fcf76d79fee46d745955 as the point when it stopped working.
