Width settings go whacky across page

When I attempt to add the contents of the sample "index.html" into an HTML widget on a wordpress page with existing content (ie. embed this counter into a section of the page), some of the other divs, etc. on the existing page go to 100% width. I don't want this to happen. I want to preserve the original width settings of the original divs, etc that existing on that page.

Difficult to tell without an example URL. It's possible that it's caused by style collisions.
